Creators have been revealed for Multifandom Doodle 2023, round 1.

To everyone who nominated tags, signed up, picked up pinch hits, created treats, and/or commented on art... thank you for being part of this exchange and I hope you had fun! :)

A second round is planned for 2023 with nominations opening in October and reveals on December 25.

As usual I don't have any big changes in the works for next round. If you have any feedback or suggested changes based on this round, please leave your feedback below (anon is enabled) or email multifandomdoodle@gmail.com .

Treat rules reminder & collection update

Hi all! The Multifandom Doodle 2023 round 1 collection has been set to "moderated" due to a rule-breaking work being added back into the collection a second time after it was removed. Feel free to continue submitting late treats if you have created them; they will be approved as long as they are in keeping with the Treat and Other rules, as follows:

Treats may be any medium (including fanfiction!) and need not meet minimum requirements, but must address at least one of the recipient's character/ship requests and respect their DNWs.
Don't be a jerk. Kinkshaming, ship-bashing, harassment, and deliberately spiteful art are banned.

Additionally, because of this rule, treats should be posted individually. (This was clarified in FAQ comments this year and will be added to the rules moving forward.)

Treats that don't follow these rules and guidelines, and any art that appears to be of a harassing or spiteful/insincere nature, will not be accepted into the collection. Participants who exhibit this behavior will be banned from future rounds of this exchange.

Hello! Unless you were granted an extension, the assignment submission deadline for Multifandom Doodle 2023, round 1, has now passed. If you have an extension please refer back to our email or comment chain for your new assignment due date.

There are 4 new post-deadline pinch hits and 2 initial pinch hits which have still not been claimed for a total of 6 outstanding pinch hits, listed below. All of these pinch hits are now due Friday, July 21 at 11:59 PM UTC, or negotiable. The collection is scheduled to open on Sunday, July 23 as long as everyone who did not default has received a gift.

Deadline approaching + outstanding pinch hits

Works for Multifandom Doodle 2023 (round 1) will be due in a little over 24 hours on Sunday, July 16 at 11:59 PM UTC.This may be earlier than midnight in your timezone (for example, in Eastern Standard Time the deadline is at 7:59 PM). A countdown timer may be viewed here.

There are still two initial pinch hits outstanding. If you are familiar with Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Project Neural Cloud, Archive 81, McGillicuddy And Murder's Pawn Shop, Shaperaverse, Stellar Firma, or Welcome to Night Vale please follow this link to view the IPH post and leave a comment there or email multifandomdoodle@gmail.com if you are able to pick up a pinch hit.

There will be at least one additional pinch hit posted after the deadline due to defaulting, possibly more if there are no-shows or last minute defaults. As a reminder the collection opening will be delayed if every participant (who did not default) does not have a gift by the scheduled gift reveal time.

Assignments out! + 4 initial pinch hits

Assignments for the summer 2023 round of Multifandom Doodle have been sent out!

Before assignments were sent, one signup had to be deleted due to a fandom request in the signup breaking the exchange rule "You can only request and offer characters/relationships that are in the tagset" as well as skirting the no-railroading rule. Normally signups will not be deleted due to breaking the rules, however in this case the deleted signup had only requested 3 distinct fandoms; had only requested 1 (rule-breaking) tag/prompt under 1 of these fandoms; and was unresponsive for over 24 hours when emailed. Since the participant was unresponsive, the only way to proceed with matching was to remove the rule-breaking request, and by removing the rule-breaking request the signup became ineligible for the exchange due to only having 2 unique fandoms. Let me know if there are questions about this.

Signups for Multifandom Doodle 2023 round 1 (summer round) are closed. Thanks to all of you who signed up, this is the highest number of signups for a summer round of Multifandom Doodle so far!

There is at least one signup with an issue/mod clarification so please check the email associated with your AO3 account within the next 24 hours in case the issue is related to your signup. If I don't receive a response to a signup issue-related email within 24 hours after it was sent, the signup may be deleted or edited to allow matching to proceed. Assignments will be sent no later than June 14 and any initial pinch hits will be posted shortly after.

Some additional reminders before signups close:

All participants must be the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction.
If the tag you want to request/offer isn't showing up in the dropdown after you've selected a fandom, copy and paste the tag into your signup exactly as it appears in the tagset.
Style- and medium-related DNWs ("DNW traditional art", "DNW CalArts style", "DNW anime style") are not enforceable because of ambiguity and beginner friendliness. More specific DNWs that are clearly defined and don't interfere with beginner accessibility such as "DNW gifs or animation/movement", "DNW use of the trigram color palette", or "DNW speech bubbles" are enforceable.
Important: When matching runs, participants who aren't be able to be matched as a gifter will be matched at random to a recipient who requested Creator's Choice. If you do not want to be matched to a Creator's Choice request as a gifter, check the requests summary before signups close to make sure the fandoms and characters/ships you are offering are matchable to at least one request. If you are requesting Creator's Choice, be aware that you may end up with more than one assigned gifter and potentially more than one official gift because of this rule.

As the signup close time approaches, all signups will be checked to make sure they follow the signup guidelines and rules. If your signup does not follow the rules, I will email the address associated with your AO3 account letting you know what needs to be changed. You will have 24 hours from the date of the email to make requested changes. If the changes are not made, your signup may be deleted so matching can proceed.

As a reminder, here are the signup rules and guidelines:

When signing up, you choose which characters/ships you'd like to receive fanart of, and which characters/ships you'll offer to draw fanart for. You can only request and offer characters/relationships that are in the tagset.
The "Any" box means "any character or ship in this fandom that has been nominated for this exchange." It does not mean "any character in the fandom as a whole."
You can request 3-10 different fandoms, with 1-20 characters/ships per fandom. You can offer 4-10 different fandoms with 1-20 characters/ships per fandom.
This exchange uses "or" matching, and your gifter is only required to create something based on one of your characters/ships. Please keep this in mind when prompting.
In the "Description" section of the signup form, you can write prompts for your artist to get a better idea of what you want. It's generally a good idea to list out tropes, kinks, or visuals that you tend to like, as well as give some prompts specific to your requested characters/ships. "Dear artist" letters are not required, but they are welcome!
You can also include DNWs (Do Not Wants), which are things you don't want to see in your gift. DNWs can include anything, but you may not use them to try and railroad your gifter into making one specific drawing (e.g. "DNW anything except a picture of catboy Kylo Ren kneeling at Rey's feet while she holds his collar and looks at him lovingly"). You may not use DNWs that contradict your requests (e.g. requesting a "/" relationship and then DNWing shipping).
You are encouraged to list any stylistic preferences you have, and artists are encouraged to take these into account. Due to ambiguity and the beginner-friendly structure of this exchange, style- and medium-related DNWs will not be enforced (e.g. "DNW traditional art", "DNW CalArts style", "DNW anime style").

Here are some additional, general reminders:

If you choose to request a fandom with no character/ship/setting tags in the tagset, your artist has free rein to draw anything that could reasonably be interpreted as having to do with that fandom. Any details/requests you add related to that fandom in your signup or letter will be considered optional details.

Alternative Flags (OFMD)

Should this nomination be changed to "Object: Alternative Flags"? If this is not clarified and/or the nominator doesn't change this by the deadline that is how it will be approved since it doesn't seem to be a character name.

Hello! Nominations are open for Multifandom Doodle 2023, round 1. The tagset is located here.

Nominations are open early because I, the mod, am traveling this weekend. :) Nomination approvals this weekend will be slow/sporadic and there will be no clarification posts before May 22.

There were two additions/clarifications to the nomination rules since 2022 Round 2 so please review the nominations & eligibility rules below before nominating.

Eligibility

All fandoms, characters, and ships are eligible for this exchange.
Original Work, Creator's Choice of Fandom, and RPF are eligible for this exchange.
- Mods reserve the right to reject Original Work and RPF nominations deemed to be in bad taste (e.g. Nazi RPF, underage RPF).
All participants must be the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction.

Nominations & Eligibility

Each participant can nominate up to 10 fandoms, with up to 20 characters/ships in each fandom.
- General, appearance-related AUs may be nominated as part of the character tag at mod discretion (e.g. "Female Roy Mustang", "Black Usagi Tsukino", "Desi Harry Potter", "Transfeminine Dudley Dursley", "Human Catra", "Galra Keith Kogane"). Any appearance-related AU that can't be clearly summed up in one or two words should be saved for the optional details of your request.
Relationships between two or more characters are still nominated as individual "characters." To nominate a relationship, nominate them by putting "group: " before their names, in the following format:
- group: Character A/Character B or group: Character A & Character B or group: Character A/Character B & Character C, etc.
Romantic and/or sexual relationships are denoted by the / sign between the characters' names, and platonic and/or familial relationships are denoted by the & sign between the characters' names.
You may nominate settings and/or objects as individual "characters" or as part of relationships (e.g. "place: Howl's Castle", "group: Nico di Angelo & the Lotus Hotel and Casino", "group: Dean Winchester/The Impala").
- Please nominate individual places/settings with "Place:" or "Setting:" in front of them, to disambiguate them from characters and freeforms (e.g. "Place: The Moonpool", "Setting: the Hundred-Acre Wood").
You may nominate "Any"/"Creator's Choice" characters and ships using the format: "Creator's Choice of [x]". For example, "Creator's Choice of Marcia Overstrand's Outfits", "Creator's Choice of Pokemon", "As Many Mythological Creatures As Creator Can Think Of", etc.
Please nominate crossover relationships under the fandom "Crossover Fandom." When nominating them, please use the format "group: Character A (Fandom 1)/Character B (Fandom 2)."
Please nominate original characters and relationships under the fandom "Original Work." Descriptive character names are recommended. "Mermaid/Pirate" is pretty vague, while "Curvy Blue-haired Tattoo Artist Mermaid/Roguish Tattooed Butch Pirate" gives a better idea of what visuals and dynamics someone might be looking to request or draw.
- If you have a gender preference for an original ship (e.g. you want "Elf Paladin/Orc Druid" but only if they're both female), you must nominate the ship with genders included in the names (e.g. "Female Elf Paladin/Female Orc Druid").
- This exchange was originally designed for the benefit of fandom artists and creators and shouldn't be treated as a space to request free commissions. If you have OCs in mind that are so specific they cannot be described within the character limit of an AO3 tag, please nominate and request the "Recipient's OC or TTRPG Character" tag in the fandom "Original Work".
