Regardless of the fandom you nominated under, non canonical tags are known to not automatically associate or otherwise "migrate" in tagsets, it is just a thing AO3 does and has nothing to do with how you nominated it. In this exchange, since relationships and objects get nominated as "characters", it is more likely to happen. For tags that didn't auto associate it is really easy for mods to manually fix as soon as we know where the tag was intended to go :)
A lot of exchange participants disambiguate with the fandom in parentheses behind the tags they nominate due to this but it isn't required in this exchange because if a tag doesn't get associated, I just ask about it on here.
