Creators have been revealed for Multifandom Doodle 2024, round 1.

To everyone who participated whether it was through nominating, signing up, pinch hitting, treating or commenting, thank you and I hope you had fun!

If I run a second round this year it will be a similar timeline to years past (reveals on December 25th) but it will likely be a prompt fest format and not an exchange. This is mostly because due to irl commitments I have increasingly limited bandwidth to deal with late in the game pinch hits and no-shows at deadline, and prompt fests eliminate the need to moderate pinch hits and no-shows.

Besides this, I don't have any big changes in the works. If you have any feedback or suggested changes based on this round, please leave your feedback below (anon is enabled) or email multifandomdoodle@gmail.com .

Hello! Unless you were granted an extension, the assignment submission deadline for Multifandom Doodle 2024 (round 1) has now passed. If you have an extension please refer back to our email or comment chain for your new assignment due date. Because of the number of last minute extensions and lingering pinch hits any more defaults may lead to the reveal date being pushed.

There are 4 new post-deadline pinch hits due to defaults and no-shows, and also 3 initial pinch hits which have still not been claimed for a total of 7 outstanding pinch hits. All available pinch hits are listed below. All of these pinch hits are now due Saturday, July 20 at 11:59 PM UTC, or negotiable. The collection is scheduled to open on Monday, July 22 as long as everyone who did not default and whose signup follows the rules has received a gift. If all pinch hits aren't claimed by Saturday, July 20 at 11:59 PM UTC I will push both reveal dates by a week.

To claim any outstanding pinch hit please comment on this post (IPHs are reposted here) or email multifandomdoodle@gmail.com with your AO3 username and the PH number(s) you would like to claim. Comments are screened.

Works for Multifandom Doodle 2024 round 1 will be due in a week on Monday, July 15 at 11:59 PM UTC. This may be earlier than midnight in your timezone (for example, in Eastern Standard Time the deadline is at 7:59 PM). A countdown timer may be viewed here.

There are three initial pinch hits outstanding. Please check out the pinch hit post to see if you are able to pick up any of the pinch hits. As a reminder the collection opening will be delayed if every participant (who did not default and whose signup follows the rules) does not have a gift by the scheduled gift reveal time.

Right now there are no additional pinch hits. Any deadline no-shows/defaults and participants who were defaulted on but have yet to fulfill their own assignments will be posted as post-deadline pinch hits next week.

Please check your assignment before the deadline and before reveals to make sure your embed link works and your image is visible. There have been issues in the past due to image hosts disabling embeds, placing a very short time limit on hosting, etc. I will be checking all assignments at the deadline for rules compliance and will attempt to catch any broken links at that time, but won't be looking at treats and won't be going through assignments again before reveals.

Some reminders before signups close:

All participants must be the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction.
Style- and medium-related DNWs ("DNW traditional art", "DNW CalArts style", "DNW anime style", "DNW color") are not enforceable because of ambiguity and beginner friendliness. More specific DNWs that don't interfere with beginner accessibility such as "DNW gifs or animation/movement", "DNW use of the trigram/'eyestrain' color palette", "DNW blur effects", or "DNW speech bubbles" are enforceable.
When matching runs, participants who aren't be able to be matched as a gifter will be matched at random to a recipient who requested Creator's Choice. If you do not want to be matched to a Creator's Choice request as a gifter, check the requests summary before signups close to make sure the fandoms and characters/ships you are offering are matchable to at least one request. If you are requesting Creator's Choice, be aware that you may end up with more than one assigned gifter and potentially more than one official gift because of this rule.

Two special reminders based on signups that have come through already:

"AI art" DNWs: AI-generated images are not allowed as gifts or treats in this exchange and I'll permaban anyone who breaks this rule. If you feel more comfortable including "AI art" in your DNWs as well, that is fine. I want to make sure it is clear to everyone that you don't need to DNW that content because it is categorically excluded from this exchange.
You can only request and offer characters/ships that are in the tagset. Multiple signups have already broken this rule this round (they have since been corrected). Do not attempt to use optional details or DNWs to request a character/ship that is not in the tagset. This is not about requesting or offering "A" and saying "I also like B and A/C so feel free to include them with A if you want" - that is fine - this is about requesting or offering "A" and then saying in your optional details/letter, "I didn't see X/Y as an option but that's what I really want so please draw X/Y".
- If you do this you will be asked to change your signup. If you don't/can't change it or don't reply in a timely manner, that fandom or your signup will have to be deleted (depending on how many total fandoms you requested). If I've missed any signups with this problem please email multifandomdoodle@gmail.com so I can reach out to those participants.

As the signup close time approaches, all signups will be checked to make sure they follow the signup guidelines and rules. If there is an egregious issue with your signup, I will email the address associated with your AO3 account letting you know what needs to be changed. You will have 24 hours from the time the email is sent or until June 11 at 11:59 PM UTC, whichever is later, to make requested changes. If the changes are not made, part or all of your signup may be deleted so matching can proceed.

Finally, I am hoping for at least 50 signups for the summer round since that was my planned minimum number to be able to run a 2024 winter round of the exchange, and we are almost there... so if you have any friends who were always curious about fanart (or exchanges) but too scared to try, let them know! :)

This is less of a clarification and more of a heads up! GeminiTay (HermitCraft) is in the tagset under both Hermitcraft SMP and Video Blogging RPF, and the pending tag GeminiTay (Video Blogging RPF) seems to be causing AO3 to freak out a little bit because of this. Therefore I'm going to reject the tag GeminiTay (Video Blogging RPF). If GeminiTay (Video Blogging RPF) is different from GeminiTay (Hermitcraft), let me know and I'll see if I can add this tag in manually, since AO3 does not want to let it through the usual way.

Eligibility

All fandoms, characters, and ships are eligible for this exchange.
Original Work, Creator's Choice of Fandom, and RPF are eligible for this exchange.
- Mods reserve the right to reject Original Work and RPF nominations deemed to be in bad taste (e.g. Nazi RPF, underage RPF).
All participants must be the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction.

Nominations & Eligibility

Each participant can nominate up to 10 fandoms, with up to 20 characters/ships in each fandom.
- General, appearance-related AUs may be nominated as part of the character tag at mod discretion (e.g. "Female Roy Mustang", "Black Usagi Tsukino", "Desi Harry Potter", "Transfeminine Dudley Dursley", "Human Catra", "Galra Keith Kogane"). Any appearance-related AU that can't be clearly summed up in one or two words should be saved for the optional details of your request.
Relationships between two or more characters are still nominated as individual "characters." To nominate a relationship, nominate them by putting "group: " before their names, in the following format:
- group: Character A/Character B or group: Character A & Character B or group: Character A/Character B & Character C, etc.
Romantic and/or sexual relationships are denoted by the / sign between the characters' names, and platonic and/or familial relationships are denoted by the & sign between the characters' names.
You may nominate settings and/or objects as individual "characters" or as part of relationships (e.g. "place: Howl's Castle", "group: Nico di Angelo & the Lotus Hotel and Casino", "group: Dean Winchester/Sam Winchester/The Impala").
- Please nominate individual places/settings with "Place:" or "Setting:" in front of them, to disambiguate them from characters and freeforms (e.g. "Place: The Moonpool", "Setting: the Hundred-Acre Wood").
You may nominate "Any"/"Creator's Choice" characters and ships using the format: "Creator's Choice of [x]". For example, "Creator's Choice of Marcia Overstrand's Outfits", "Creator's Choice of Pokemon", "As Many Mythological Creatures As Creator Can Think Of", etc.
Please nominate crossover relationships under the fandom "Crossover Fandom." When nominating them, please use the format "group: Character A (Fandom 1)/Character B (Fandom 2)."
Please nominate original characters and relationships under the fandom "Original Work." Descriptive character names are recommended. "Mermaid/Pirate" is pretty vague, while "Curvy Blue-haired Tattoo Artist Mermaid/Roguish Tattooed Butch Pirate" gives a better idea of what visuals and dynamics someone might be looking to request or draw.
- If you have a gender preference for an original ship (e.g. you want "Elf Paladin/Orc Druid" but only if they're both female), you must nominate the ship with genders included in the names (e.g. "Female Elf Paladin/Female Orc Druid").
- This exchange was originally designed for the benefit of fandom artists and creators and shouldn't be treated as a space to request free commissions. If you have OCs in mind that are so specific they cannot be described within the character limit of an AO3 tag, please nominate and request the "Recipient's OC or TTRPG Character" tag in the fandom "Original Work".
