Hello, I hope the nominations period has been going well for everyone! Signups are still slated to open in the next few hours (experimenting with a nomination/signup overlap period this round).

There are several nomination clarifications, mostly to do with improperly categorized or formatted tags. If there are questions or concerns about any of these clarifications, please comment below - anon is enabled.

Any Fandom I've Requested Before
All tags

These tags aren't within the scope of this exchange right now, mostly because it's meant to be beginner friendly but also for ease of matching and avoiding defaults. Please re-phrase/re-nominate these tags either:
  1. Under specific fandoms in the Multifandom Doodle 2024 Round 1 tagset (e.g. [Fandom] -> Creator's Choice of M/F Ship ([Fandom])); or
  2. Under Creator's Choice of Fandom (e.g. CCOF -> Creator's Choice of Femslash Ship).
Tags nominated under "Any Fandom I've Requested Before" at the time nominations close will be rejected.

Any Fandom I've Created In Before
Creator's Choice of illuminated page of one of recip’s fics (medieval monk style) (AFICIB)
Creator's choice of scene in one of recip's fics (AFICIB)

Illustrations of a recipient's fic should be nominated under specific fandom(s), using a character tag for that fandom, and disambiguated, using the format "Creator's Choice of Illuminated Page from Recipient's AO3 Fic (Fandom)", e.g. "Creator's Choice of Illuminated Page from Recipient's AO3 Fic (SW:OT)", nominated under Star Wars: Original Trilogy (can delete the "Creator's Choice of" part if that makes the tag too long).

Tags nominated under "Any Fandom I've Created In Before" at the time nominations close will be rejected.

Creator's Choice of Fandom
A Hopeless Dawn by Frank Bramley (Painting) and all other Painting tags nominated in CCOF

These are existing works of art. Please nominate them under an appropriate fandom name, ideally with each painting as a separate fandom (and no character tags) or under "Paintings - [Artist Name]".
Any existing artwork nominated under CCOF or OW at the time nominations close will be rejected.

Creator's Choice of Fandom
Creator's Choice of Scene from Recipient's AO3 Fic in the Style of a Medieval Illumination (OW)

Illustrations of a recipient's fic should be nominated under specific fandom(s), using a character tag for that fandom, and disambiguated, using the format "Creator's Choice of Scene from Recipient's AO3 Fic (Fandom)", e.g. "Creator's Choice of Scene from Recip's AO3 Fic (SW:OT)", nominated under Star Wars: Original Trilogy.

If this tag is meant to refer to a recipient's Original Work fic, please nominate this tag under OW (not CCOF) and format it as: Creator's Choice of Scene from Recipient's OW Fic in the Style of a Medieval Illumination (OW).

Video Blogging RPF
GeminiTay (Video Blogging RPF)

This is less of a clarification and more of a heads up! GeminiTay (HermitCraft) is in the tagset under both Hermitcraft SMP and Video Blogging RPF, and the pending tag GeminiTay (Video Blogging RPF) seems to be causing AO3 to freak out a little bit because of this. Therefore I'm going to reject the tag GeminiTay (Video Blogging RPF). If GeminiTay (Video Blogging RPF) is different from GeminiTay (Hermitcraft), let me know and I'll see if I can add this tag in manually, since AO3 does not want to let it through the usual way.

Nominations close June 3 so please make sure you nominate anything you may want to request or offer before 11:59 PM UTC on June 3. Remember that this may be earlier than midnight in your timezone.

As the nominations period wraps up, if there are questions about nominations, any duplicate/misspelled/migrating tags in the tagset for your fandoms, or a clarification you want to provide pre-emptively, please comment on this post or the Nominations Open post.

Hello! Nominations are now open for Multifandom Doodle 2024, Round 1. The tagset can be viewed here and you can submit your nominations here.

I will be AFK May 25-May 27 so any nominations submitted on the 25th or 26th could take 48+ hours to be approved even if no additional clarifications are needed - rest assured they will make it through eventually!

Please read through the nominations & eligibility rules below before nominating.

Eligibility
  • All fandoms, characters, and ships are eligible for this exchange.
  • Original Work, Creator's Choice of Fandom, and RPF are eligible for this exchange.
    • Mods reserve the right to reject Original Work and RPF nominations deemed to be in bad taste (e.g. Nazi RPF, underage RPF).
  • All participants must be the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction.
Nominations & Eligibility
  • Each participant can nominate up to 10 fandoms, with up to 20 characters/ships in each fandom.
    • General, appearance-related AUs may be nominated as part of the character tag at mod discretion (e.g. "Female Roy Mustang", "Black Usagi Tsukino", "Desi Harry Potter", "Transfeminine Dudley Dursley", "Human Catra", "Galra Keith Kogane"). Any appearance-related AU that can't be clearly summed up in one or two words should be saved for the optional details of your request.
  • Relationships between two or more characters are still nominated as individual "characters." To nominate a relationship, nominate them by putting "group: " before their names, in the following format:
    • group: Character A/Character B or group: Character A & Character B or group: Character A/Character B & Character C, etc.
  • Romantic and/or sexual relationships are denoted by the / sign between the characters' names, and platonic and/or familial relationships are denoted by the & sign between the characters' names.
  • You may nominate settings and/or objects as individual "characters" or as part of relationships (e.g. "place: Howl's Castle", "group: Nico di Angelo & the Lotus Hotel and Casino", "group: Dean Winchester/Sam Winchester/The Impala").
    • Please nominate individual places/settings with "Place:" or "Setting:" in front of them, to disambiguate them from characters and freeforms (e.g. "Place: The Moonpool", "Setting: the Hundred-Acre Wood").
  • You may nominate "Any"/"Creator's Choice" characters and ships using the format: "Creator's Choice of [x]". For example, "Creator's Choice of Marcia Overstrand's Outfits", "Creator's Choice of Pokemon", "As Many Mythological Creatures As Creator Can Think Of", etc.
  • Please nominate crossover relationships under the fandom "Crossover Fandom." When nominating them, please use the format "group: Character A (Fandom 1)/Character B (Fandom 2)."
  • Please nominate original characters and relationships under the fandom "Original Work." Descriptive character names are recommended. "Mermaid/Pirate" is pretty vague, while "Curvy Blue-haired Tattoo Artist Mermaid/Roguish Tattooed Butch Pirate" gives a better idea of what visuals and dynamics someone might be looking to request or draw.
    • If you have a gender preference for an original ship (e.g. you want "Elf Paladin/Orc Druid" but only if they're both female), you must nominate the ship with genders included in the names (e.g. "Female Elf Paladin/Female Orc Druid").
    • This exchange was originally designed for the benefit of fandom artists and creators and shouldn't be treated as a space to request free commissions. If you have OCs in mind that are so specific they cannot be described within the character limit of an AO3 tag, please nominate and request the "Recipient's OC or TTRPG Character" tag in the fandom "Original Work".
Illustrations of a recipient's fic should be nominated under specific fandom(s), using a character tag for that fandom, and disambiguated, using the format "Creator's Choice of Scene from Recipient's AO3 Fic (Fandom)". For example, "Creator's Choice of Scene from Recip's AO3 Fic (SW:OT)", nominated under Star Wars: Original Trilogy.

If you think there may be confusion about a tag you're planning to nominate, feel free to ask or give a heads up about it first - this lessens the chance of it getting held up for a clarification post.

Please comment here or email the mod account if there are any questions, concerns, etc.

Nominations for the winter 2023 round of Multifandom Doodle have closed - thank you to everyone who nominated tags! The tagset can be viewed here.

There are three clarifications related to the tagset.

1. There was no response to the previous clarification post so all "Trans [Character]" nominations were approved as nominated. As mentioned in the previous clarification post, if you request these tags you will not be able to use your request details to railroad somebody into drawing an AU any more specific than what is in the tag. For example, if an artist and a requester match on "Trans Kinomoto Sakura", the artist will be free to draw Sakura as a trans man, a trans woman, nonbinary, etc. regardless of what the requester writes in their  request details or DNWs.

2. The multiple "AU![Character]" tags mentioned in the previous clarification post were edited to have the correct format and accepted. In future, nominated tags that aren't in the correct format may be rejected if there is no response to a request for the tags to be fixed by the nominator.

3. These tags would not be considered "Crossover Fandom" because they do not involve any specific fandoms:

Any Requested Character(s) (Any Requested Fandom) as Magical Boy(s)
Any Requested Character(s) (Any Requested Fandom) as Magical Girl(s)

These tags will show up as rejected but they have been added to the tagset under Creator's Choice of Fandom as:

Creator's Choice of Requested Character(s) (Any Requested Fandom) as Magical Boy(s)
Creator's Choice of Requested Character(s) (Any Requested Fandom) as Magical Girl(s)

Signups are scheduled to open on or before November 1. Changes to the tagset cannot be made after signups open so please take a moment over the next 12-24 hours to check any fandoms you may want to request or offer in the tagset and comment on this post if you find anything amiss such as misspelled tags, duplicate tags, tags that don't have "group:"/"object:"/"place:"/etc. in front of them when they should, or misassociated/migrating tags. Also, feel free to email/comment if you would like to make any last minute additions.

Please comment below or email multifandomdoodle@gmail.com with any questions, concerns, etc...

Hi, I hope the nominations period has been going well for everyone!

There is one general request and one clarification related to about 20 different trans AU nominations under Cardcaptor Sakura, DCU, Pokemon, SVSS, My Hero Academia, and Trash of the Count's Family - Yulyeohan.
  • Currently multiple nominations for the above fandoms are formatted as: "Trans!Character". Please format any character AU nominations as specified in the rules (below) and if you've nominated any tags with a different format please go back and edit your nominations so they can be approved.
    • General, appearance-related AUs may be nominated as part of the character tag at mod discretion (e.g. "Female Roy Mustang", "Black Usagi Tsukino", "Desi Harry Potter", "Transfeminine Dudley Dursley", "Human Catra", "Galra Keith Kogane").
  • If there is a specific trans AU you have in mind for a character - for example, transfeminine Barbara Gordon or nonbinary Misty - your nominated tags should specify this as you will not be able to use your request details to railroad somebody into drawing an AU any more specific than what is in the tag. For example, if you matched on "Trans Kinomoto Sakura", your creator would be free to draw Sakura as a trans man, a trans woman, nonbinary, etc. even if you only wanted to request transfeminine Sakura. If this is what you meant to nominate please comment below to clarify this so I can approve these tags. If this isn't what you meant to nominate please edit the tags. If no action is taken I will approve all correctly formatted tags as-is before nominations close.
In general, please remember that any fandom nomination that isn't a single character (or a "Creator's choice of character") needs a disambiguating "group:", "object:", "place:", "setting:", etc. in front of it.

Nominations close in a few days so please make sure you nominate anything you may want to request or offer before October 30, 11:59 PM UTC. Remember that this may be earlier than midnight in your timezone.

As the nominations period continues, if there are questions about nominations, any duplicate/misspelled/migrating tags in the tagset for your fandoms, or a clarification you want to provide pre-emptively, please comment on this post or the Nominations Open post.

Additional clarification for 2023 round 2 that may be added to the rules depending on how this round goes: Illustrations of a recipient's fic should be nominated under specific fandom(s), using a character tag for that fandom, and disambiguated, as something like "Creator's Choice of Scene from Recipient's AO3 Fic (Fandom)". For example, "Creator's Choice of Scene from Recip's AO3 Fic (SW:OT)", nominated under Star Wars: Original Trilogy.

Please comment here or email the mod account if there are any questions, concerns, etc.

Nominations for the summer 2023 round of Multifandom Doodle have closed -- thank you to everyone who nominated! You can check out the tagset here.

There is one specific clarification question:

group: Thrawn | Mitth'raw'nuruodo/ hera syndulla
This tag was not automatically associated by AO3 and wasn't disambiguated by the nominator. Does it belong in Star Wars Legends, Star Wars: All Media Types, or somewhere else? If this is not clarified before signups open, I will put it in All Media Types.

Signups will open by end of day tomorrow, May 29. Please take a moment to check any fandoms you might be interested in requesting/offering in the tagset and comment here or email multifandomdoodle@gmail.com if you notice anything amiss such as misspelled tags, duplicate tags, tags that don't have "group:"/"object:"/"place:"/etc. in front of them when they should, or misassociated/migrating tags. Hi, I hope the nominations period has been going well for everyone!

There is one request for clarification.

Alternative Flags (OFMD)
  • Should this nomination be changed to "Object: Alternative Flags"? If this is not clarified and/or the nominator doesn't change this by the deadline that is how it will be approved since it doesn't seem to be a character name.
  • Is this tag sufficiently clear to explain what you want (are the alternative flags canonical and canonically known as such)?
If you nominated this tag or know the fandom and can provide insight, please comment below! Anon is enabled.

In general, please remember that any fandom nomination that isn't a single character (or a "Creator's choice of character") needs a disambiguating "group:", "object:", "place:", "setting:", etc. in front of it.

Nominations close in about 2 days so please make sure you add your desired nominations before May 28, 11:59 PM UTC. Remember that this may be earlier than midnight in your timezone.

As the nominations period continues, if there are questions about nominations or a clarification you want to provide pre-emptively, please comment on this post or the Nominations Open post.

Hello! Nominations are open for Multifandom Doodle 2023, round 1. The tagset is located here.

Nominations are open early because I, the mod, am traveling this weekend. :) Nomination approvals this weekend will be slow/sporadic and there will be no clarification posts before May 22.

There were two additions/clarifications to the nomination rules since 2022 Round 2 so please review the nominations & eligibility rules below before nominating.

Hi y'all, thank you for all your nominations so far! As the nominations period continues, I've got a clarification request. If you nominated for OFMD please check below.

Clarifications

Our Flag Means Death (TV)

group: Any of Stede's outfits/creator's choice of character

To clarify before I approve this nomination: the / sign denotes a romantic or sexual relationship. If this nomination is approved as-is, it means you'd like to see one of Stede's outfits romantically involved with or fucking the creator's choice of character. Is this what you intended to nominate?

I have approved the above tag as-is.

As a general announcement, nominations for Rule 63/genderswapped characters will be approved as long as they use the format "[Gender] [Character Name]" i.e. "Female Bruce Wayne" or "Nonbinary Luke Skywalker", like in Original Work nominations. Thank you to the participant who asked for clarification via email.

Hello! Nominations are now officially open for Multifandom Doodle 2022... Round 2!

The schedule for this round has shifted slightly so that the nominations close date, signups close date, and assignment due date now fall on Mondays instead of Sundays. There will be no change to reveals dates (December 25 for works and January 1 for creators).

There have been no rule changes since 2022 Round 1 but please review the nominations & eligibility rules below before nominating.

Nazi RPF).
  • All participants must be the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction.

How to Nominate
  • Each participant can nominate up to 10 fandoms, with up to 20 characters/ships in each fandom.
"Place: Howl's Castle", "group: Fawkes & the Room of Requirement", "group: Dean Winchester/The Impala").
    • Please nominate individual places/settings with "Place:" or "Setting:" in front of them, to disambiguate them from freeforms (e.g. "Place: Howl's Castle", "Setting: the Hundred-Acre Wood").
  • You may nominate "Any"/"Creator's Choice" characters and ships using the format: "Creator's Choice of [x]". For example, "Creator's Choice of Dumbledore's Outfits", "Creator's Choice of Pokemon", "As Many Mythological Creatures As Creator Can Think Of", etc. If you nominate using the format "Any [X]" your nomination may be rejected.
You won't be allowed to use likes or DNWs to enforce a gender preference for an original ship where the nominated tag is gender neutral.
    • This exchange was originally designed for the benefit of artists in fandom. It is not an appropriate place to request free art commissions of OC(s) from unpublished media. If you have OCs in mind that are so specific they cannot be described within the character limit of an AO3 tag, this exchange is not the place to request art of those characters. Please review the art commission tags on your social media of choice to find artists who are open to commissions.

If there are any questions, concerns, or nominations clarifications, please comment below or email multifandomdoodle@gmail.com.

Nominations for the summer 2022 round of Multifandom Doodle have closed. The tagset looks fantastic, thank you everyone who nominated!

Signups will open no later than May 30, depending on how quickly the final clarifications are addressed.

Clarifications

Rosemary Sutcliff Dolphin Ring Series
  • Group: the mossy-faced objects (ponies: Eagle of the Ninth)
    • What is this/what are you trying to nominate? Please clarify, otherwise the tag will be reworded and accepted as Mossy-faced ponies (Eagle of the Ninth).
  • A participant has suggested that the tags nominated under "Rosemary Sutcliff Dolphin Ring Series" be split into their individual books as the books' timelines and characters have no significant overlap.
    • If you would like these tags to be split out and associated with their individual books, please comment on this post with a list of which book each tag currently associated under "Rosemary Sutcliff Dolphin Ring Series" should be re-associated with no later than 2 PM UTC on May 29.
    • If the nominator of these tags would like the tags to stay associated under "Rosemary Sutcliff Dolphin Ring Series", please comment on this post to explain your reasoning no later than 2 PM UTC on May 29.
    • If there are no comments from any interested parties by 2 PM UTC on May 29 the tags will remain associated under "Rosemary Sutcliff Dolphin Ring Series".
Reminder: If you choose to request a fandom with no character/ship/setting tags in the tagset, your artist has free rein to draw anything that could reasonably be interpreted as having to do with that fandom. Any details/requests you add related to that fandom in your signup or letter will be considered optional details.

Final reminder: Please check any fandoms you might be interested in requesting/offering in the tagset and comment here if you notice anything amiss such as misspelled tags, duplicate tags, or misassociated/migrating tags.

Please comment below or email multifandomdoodle@gmail.com with any questions, concerns, etc. I hope everyone is excited for signups!

Hi everyone, thank you for all your nominations so far! As the nominations period continues, there are a few announcements and clarification requests for participants.

Announcements
  • All "Creator's Choice of Fandom" nominations are currently being auto-rejected by the tagset on AO3. For now, please either comment on this post with your Creator's Choice of Fandom nominations, or email your Creator's Choice of Fandom nominations to multifandomdoodle@gmail.com.
    • Do not nominate your Creator's Choice of Fandom tags to the tagset with a different fandom name like "Creator's Choice of Fandom: Original Tag Didn't Work For Some Reason". This generates more confusion and more tags that need to be cleaned up, removed and/or reassociated.
  • Please remember to use the Group: format for & and / nominations (ex. "Group: Character X/Character Y & Character Z").
  • Please check your fandom(s) for duplicate or misspelled tags and comment here if you notice any duplicates or misspellings, so they can be corrected before signups open.

Clarifications

Dirty Jobs RPF
  • Group: Mike Rowe doing a future dirty job
  • Group: Mike Rowe doing a historic dirty job
These tags seem to involve only one character and the tags also seem to include specific prompts, which is not within the scope of this exchange. Remember that you can always put specific prompts in your optional details or letter during signups! Please clarify what you are trying to nominate or edit your nominated tags so the tags can be approved.

As a general clarification, please remember that the nominations stage is the time when character/ship/object/setting tags can be added to the tagset. The tagset is not the place to put prompts. Tags such as "group: Elmo climbing into Oscar's trashcan & Oscar trying to push him out" or "group: Bert & Bert's Pigeons trying to lift him off the ground to fly with them" will be rejected or edited (e.g. "Group: Elmo & Oscar", "Group: Bert & Bert's Pigeons"). Please just nominate your desired character(s) or ship(s) -- you will have the chance to add as many prompts for them as you want in your Optional Details during the requests stage!
  • If you are interested in a round of Multifandom Doodle that includes prompt freeforms, please provide this feedback in the feedback post at the end of the round.

Please comment below or email multifandomdoodle@gmail.com with any questions, concerns, etc...

Hello! Nominations are now open for Multifandom Doodle 2022, Round 1.

There were three rule changes that may affect nominations so please review the relevant sections of the rules below before nominating.

Nazi RPF).
  • All participants must be the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction.

How to Nominate
  • Each participant can nominate up to 10 fandoms, with up to 20 characters/ships in each fandom.

Hello!

After nominations closed, a tagset fandom cleanup request was made for Marvel 616 and two more requests were later made for DCU comics and KOTOR/Star Wars Legends cleanup. Signups are going to be delayed until the requested cleanups have been done.

If anyone familiar with Marvel 616, DCU comics, and/or KOTOR/Star Wars Legends fandoms is able to weigh in, please join the discussion on the Nominations Closed post -- this would be very helpful!

A post will be made here on the Dreamwidth comm when signups open. Hopefully this will be no later than end of day November 2 (UTC).

Hello! Nominations are now closed.

There is a lingering question about what duplicate tags are listed under Dragon Age. Once this question has been resolved and the duplicates removed, signups for the 2021 round will open.

Please check the tagset and comment here if you notice anything else amiss such as misspelled tags, duplicate tags, or misassociated/migrating tags.

Hello!

Nominations will close in about 24 hours at 11:59 PM UTC, October 31st. Remember that this may not be midnight in your timezone.

As of right now, all requests for nominations clarifications have been answered -- thank you for your swift responses!

So that signups can open as promptly as possible after nominations close, please take a moment to look at your fandoms in the tagset and comment here if you notice any duplicate tags, misspelled tags, improperly associated/migrating tags, or any other formatting issues that need to be corrected. Thank you to everyone who has done this already! It helps the exchange run a lot more smoothly.

Please comment here if there are any questions about nominations. Anon is enabled.

Hello!

I hope nominations have been going well for everyone. Thank you for all your interest and requests for clarification!

Currently there are two sets of nominated tags that require clarification.

The Spectre (DCU Comics)
  • AO3 is suggesting Jim Corrigan (DCU) in place of this tag. Would it be acceptable to approve this tag as The Spectre | Jim Corrigan (DCU Comics), or would you prefer for it to be approved as The Spectre?
Vampiric Fruitbat nominations (Original Works)
  • There are six somewhat confusing nominations under Original Works: Vampiric Fruitbat, Apple (Vampiric Fruitbat), Banana (Vampiric Fruitbat), Orange (Vampiric Fruitbat), Strawberry (Vampiric Fruitbat), Watermelon (Vampiric Fruitbat)
  • The formatting of these nominations seems to imply that the nominator was trying to nominate a fandom called Vampiric Fruitbat with five disambiguated characters and accidentally placed it under OW, but when searched on the internet, the only apparent match is the Vampire Fruitbat characters from My Little Pony.
  • Can the nominator please confirm if they meant to nominate Vampiric Fruitbat as a fandom and if so, what that fandom is?
  • Or, if the nominator was trying to nominate different types of fruit-themed vampire bats as Original Works characters, can the nominator please change the nominated tags to make this more clear and specific?
If you nominated these tags or know the fandom and can provide insight, please comment below! Anon is enabled.

As a general clarification, please remember that the nominations stage is the time when character/ship/place/setting tags can be added to the tagset. The tagset is not the place to put prompts. Tags such as "group: Elmo climbing into Oscar's trashcan & Oscar trying to push him out" or "group: Bert & Bert's Pigeons trying to lift him off the ground to fly with them" will be rejected. Please just nominate your desired character(s) or ship(s) -- you will have the chance to add as many prompts for them as you want in your Optional Details during the requests stage!

Nominations close in a little over 2 days so please make sure you add your desired nominations before October 31, 11:59 PM UTC. Remember that this may be earlier than midnight in your timezone.

As the nominations period continues, if there are questions about nominations or a clarification you want to provide pre-emptively, please comment on this post or the Nominations Open post.

Thank you!
