How to Nominate
If there are any questions, or nomination clarifications you would like to provide, please comment below.
Eligibility
- All fandoms, characters, and ships are eligible for this exchange.
- Original Works and RPF are eligible for this exchange.
- Mods reserve the right to reject nominations deemed to be in bad taste (e.g. Nazi RPF).
How to Nominate
- Each participant can nominate up to 10 fandoms, with up to 20 characters/ships in each fandom.
- Relationships between two or more characters are still nominated as individual "characters." To nominate a relationship, nominate them by putting "group: " before their names, in the following format:
- group: Character A/Character B or group: Character A & Character B or group: Character A/Character B & Character C, etc.
- Romantic and/or sexual relationships are denoted by the / sign between the characters' names, and platonic and/or familial relationships are denoted by the & sign between the characters' names.
- You may nominate settings and/or objects as individual "characters" or as part of relationships (e.g. "Place: Howl's Castle", "group: Fawkes & the Room of Requirement", "group: Dean Winchester/The Impala").
- Please nominate individual places/settings with "Place:" or "Setting:" in front of them, to disambiguate them from freeforms (e.g. "Place: Howl's Castle", "Setting: the Hundred-Acre Wood").
- Please nominate crossover relationships under the fandom "Crossover Fandom." When nominating them, please use the format "group: Character A (Fandom 1)/Character B (Fandom 2)."
- Please nominate original characters and relationships under the fandom "Original Work." Descriptive character names are recommended. "Mermaid/Pirate" is pretty vague, while "Curvy Blue-haired Tattoo Artist Mermaid/Roguish Tattooed Butch Pirate" gives a better idea of what visuals and dynamics someone might be looking to request or draw.
- If you have a gender preference for an original ship (e.g. you want "Elf Paladin/Orc Druid" but only if they're both female), you must nominate the ship with genders included in the names (e.g. "Female Elf Paladin/Female Orc Druid"). You won't be allowed to use likes or DNWs to enforce a gender preference for an original ship where the nominated tag is gender neutral.
If there are any questions, or nomination clarifications you would like to provide, please comment below.

Date: 2021-10-23 09:03 am (UTC)Hi, a question: if I want to nominate a group of a specific character and anyone, or anyone of a certain gender, can I enter it as "group: Character XY/any", or "group: Character XY & any female character"?

Date: 2021-10-23 08:22 pm (UTC)Same as the answer to the question about Pokemon, Batman villains, etc. in the FAQ post: Because of the number of character nominations allowed per fandom, and in the interest of avoiding ambiguity, we will not accept "Any (Category)" character/ship nominations for the inaugural round of this exchange.
With that being said, please mention this in the feedback post at the end of the exchange! It seems like being able to nominate "Any" may be of general interest and if so we can implement it in the future.

Date: 2021-10-24 08:54 am (UTC)Any Sock or Underwear Model/Any Sock or Underwear Model
Arrow Collar Man
Arrow Collar Man/Any Sock Model
Arrow Collar Man/Any Underwear Model
Arrow Collar Man/Man Wearing A Competing Shirt Brand
("Man Wearing A Competing Shirt Brand" would be an original character in this case.)
Seeing now that you say no to "any" characters in the above question, I'm not sure if there's a way to nominate this at all? What interests me in this canon is men looking like that/dressed like that, with the option of playing around with the style/poses/colors of the ads for people who are up to it.
Also, if I want to see Jurassic Park characters interact with dinosaurs, do I have to try to name specific dinosaurs? A specific species?

Date: 2021-10-25 12:08 am (UTC)Would the following work for your purposes?
Sock or Underwear Model/Sock or Underwear Model
Arrow Collar Man
Arrow Collar Man/Sock Model
Arrow Collar Man/Underwear Model
Arrow Collar Man/Man Wearing A Competing Shirt Brand
For the Jurassic Park question, you would not have to name specific dinosaurs - for example "Lex Murphy & Tim Murphy & Dinosaur(s)" would be fine.
Let me know if this answers your questions!

Date: 2021-10-25 04:16 am (UTC)"Kirsty Cotton as Pinhead" - Kirsty replaces the Movie version of Pinhead as the new Pinhead in the comics. Perhaps the nominations could be changed to "Pinhead | Elliot Spencer" and " Pinhead | Kirsty Cotton"?
"Any Eldritch Horrors" - Could this be approved as "Original Eldritch Horror(s)"?

Date: 2021-10-28 07:08 pm (UTC)So for example: "Object: the Contents of [Character]'s Backpack"
They're mostly all in the category of things associated with a character. I'm hoping potential participants will feel up for drawing those even if they don't want to draw people, which is my reason for nominating them as tags rather than just prompting for them. But I can completely see doing it either way, whichever you would prefer!

Date: 2021-10-28 07:59 pm (UTC)Would it be reasonable to nominate a fandom similar to "Cryptids Fandom" or "Mythical Creatures Fandom" along the lines of "Famous Internet Animals Fandom"? I'm thinking meme animals or animals with youtube channels: Moon Moon, Longcat, Maru the cat, etc.

Date: 2021-10-29 01:39 am (UTC)Would that phrasing be clear enough or do you have another suggestion? I just love seeing people's redraws of Bosch's weird little guys.

Date: 2021-10-29 02:29 pm (UTC)I will add these requested Pinhead nominations in with the adjusted formatting.
We can approve the Eldritch Horro(s) request as "Original Eldritch Horror(s)" OR "Creator's Choice of Eldritch Horror(s)" or both! What works better for your purposes?

Date: 2021-10-29 02:36 pm (UTC)In the case of ships, when checking to see if a ship you want to request or offer is already nominated, please do remember to double check that the ship was nominated as / and not & if you intend on requesting it as a romantic or sexual relationship. If the ship was only nominated as & you would then still need to nominate it as /.
Thank you for trying out an AO3 based exchange for the first time, I hope you have fun!

Date: 2021-10-29 02:45 pm (UTC)To be honest, my reason for disallowing Any nominations this round was to avoid ambiguous moderating situations in fandoms I am not familiar with. ("Any" requests/offers are going to be allowed because they are confined to the nominated tagset and therefore a lot less ambiguous to moderate.) If the tag is nominated as "Creator's Choice" rather than "Any" I am happy to approve it.
Nominating "Object: the Contents of [Character]'s Backpack" under any fandom, or "Object: the Contents of Creator's Choice of Character's Bag" under Creator's Choice of Fandom would be fine and I have been approving nominations like that.
With that being said I would not be inclined to approve any variation on "Any Fandom I've Requested Before" ("Creator's Choice of Any Fandom I've Requested Before", etc...) because that puts a lot of work on the creator to go looking through old requests and letters, and on the mod to enforce which fandoms "count", so while it's a fun idea, I feel like right now it's really beyond the scope of this particular exchange.

Date: 2021-10-29 02:49 pm (UTC)Sure, that sounds great to me. I have approved Cryptids Fandom, Mythical Creatures Fandom, and Exchange Fandom Animals as fandoms.
